NATIONAL YOUTH VIOLENCE PREVENTION WEEK

Founded in 2001, National Youth Violence Prevention Week (NYVPW hopes to raise awareness and educate youth and communities on effective strategies to prevent youth violence BEFORE it happens. The campaign is a week-long event with each day of the week corresponding to a specific challenge presented by a national premier youth-serving organization and implemented by communities around the country.

This is the third year that this week of awareness has been promoted in Pine Tree ISD of Longview, Texas. The Pine Tree PACE SAVE Promise Club will "Unite in Action" with our our neighbor school districts, local businesses (Coffee Mill),community agencies, (Partners in Prevention (Hope for Youth, CDFY, Mentoring), SHRET, Women's Center, Boys & Girls Club, etc.) as we make intentional effort to empower our youth in Pine Tree ISD and all of Longview, Texas. This year's service project is "Hope Notes" for Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. The entire community's collaboration is needed for this to be a successful venture.

There will be PSAs, vital information, and suggested activities posted and shared to encourage these courageous conversations in all of our community and our schools.

If you are interested in being an active part of this week long event, please contact Shalonda Adams at 903-295-5130, send an email sadams@ptisd.org, or comment to this blog post!

Stay tuned for the Longview Youth Violence Prevention Day in the works!
